This day was kinda cute. As a married couple, it’s easy to fall into the routine of things. Not sure if I mentioned it on here, but we recently got a new place and since then our weekends have consisted mostly of furniture shopping, furniture returning and then some more furniture shopping. Given both of our super opinionated but indecisive personalities, its been a bit of a challenge finding pieces that we both love and agree on.
Because things were really starting to get monotonous and we were becoming increasingly frustrated with the process, we decided to skip furniture shopping for the day and chose to hang out and spend some quality time with each other. The weather was too beautiful to spend indoors so instead we were gonna soak in the sunshine and take it easy. Salmaan bought me the prettiest pink roses and I switched out my typical winter weekend attire, aka sweats, for this super cute tri-layered bell sleeved top. We snapped a few quick photos, walked to our favorite coffee shop and then headed to Millennium Park. We sat there for hours, engaged in meaningful conversations, had a picnic and watched tourists do their thing. It was such a chill day and Salmaan was just mainly thankful that he didn’t really have to do the whole Instagram-Husband thing and I was glad that I didn’t have to deal with being annoyed with him for not agreeing with me that we absolutely needed XYZ-thing for our place haha.
Typically, I’m so used to planning out our weekends and having a structured itinerary in my head but this impromptu date-day just kinda reminded me that in the grand scheme of things our tasks aren’t that important and can be put on hold from time to time, because let’s be real, those lists are never-ending.
I know it sounds cliche but we all need this reminder once in a while: take the time to smell the roses, to spend quality time with your loved ones and to cherish the little things in life. Those precious moments are fleeting and really the only things that matters in life.
…although I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss Home Goods just a little bit that day haha.
